Code Officers Issue Tickets to Illegally Parked Vehicles
Many of the residents of Cleveland Street, have been complaining about the cars that are illegally parked overnight, in a No Parking Zone, near Maple Avenue.

Our neighbors on Cleveland Street, indicate that these Illegally parked cars, contribute to the "Morning Gridlock," that effects the area.

For two nights this week, the Code officers have been ticketing the cars that were in the "No Parking Zone" on Cleveland Street, in Patchogue.

The tickets that I reference, were not issued as a result of a Routine Patrol. Local residents phoned 475 1225, and told the Code Dispatcher about the Illegally Parked Vehicles.

At the request of a Code Officer, the name of the complainant was almost announced over the Patchogue Village Code Radio. This is normal procedure for the Police Department; and many Code Officers are Retired Police Officers.

When reporting any incident to the "Code," it is best not to give the Dispatcher your name; just say "Maple Avenue Neighborhood Watch." We have officially had this procedural agreement, with both the Code, and the Police Department, for many years. In the case of a serious incident, you wouldn't want to have your name announced over the radio as the complainant!

Please report any problems to the email address at the end of this article.

If you enter a comment or observation, via the "Comments Box," directly below this article, your comments can be anonymously published, for everyone to see. Nationalize Our Oil Supply!
Maurice Hinchey Democrat from New York and Maxine Walters, Representative from California are in the process of starting proceedings to nationalize the American Oil Companies.

I have always been a "Right Wing Republican;" that is until our government gave the American oil companies unofficial permission to write their own checks for profit on Gasoline and Fuel Oil.

We the middle class American Taxpayers, have been suffering, at the hands of the very government that we have empowered to protect us! The Republicans are dogmatically holding to their policy of drilling, and the Democrats are dogmatically holding to their policy of Taxing. Like statues they refuse to compromise.

Our Representatives have demonstrated their inability to reason-out a viable solution to our Energy Problems. It might be a good idea to replace our Representatives, with Marble Statues. Now a Marble statue cannot make any decision, but neither can our elected officials. With the economy in mind, the Statues, will not get a huge salary, for work that they do not perform. Look at all of the money that we can save.

Our Energy Problems cannot be solved without compromise!

Honestly:
I do not want to freeze this winter!

I do not want to keep my house at 65 Degrees!

I do not want to walk around the house with a flashlight!

I do not want to pay $1200. for a tank of oil, that lasts one Month!

I do not want to see my neighbor, have to choose between paying the mortgage, or buying Fuel Oil!

In the Grand Scheme of things, the proposal made by Maurice Hinchey, and Maxine Walters, represents the first positive action, that could have an effect on the price of Oil. I think it stands very little chance of acceptance, but it's mere presence could put fear in the hearts of Speculators! Remember; "the world is a stage!"

Mr. Politician! Either do your job, or step aside, for someone who can do the job!

Have a Good Day!

Forward this if you so desire!

I don't quite know what "nationalizing" the oil companies really means, but if it means the government taking over private companies, I'm against it. That sounds like socialism or communism to me. The answer is to make the supply greater than the demand. Allow companies to drill here, offshore, or in the Arctic, where they believe we have oil reserves greater than those in the mid-east. Allow companies to build refineries here, so they can turn oil into usable fuel, none have been built in over 30 years. Remember, the Government is almost never the answer. You want to put the oil in the hands of those people who you just told us were totally inept? I don't.

I did not actually sanction nationalizing our oil companies. Theatrics is as important "a first positive action," as passing a law! The world is indeed a Stage!

I'm with the commentor. Increase supply. Just the knowledge that the ability to drill is open to our American producers will reduce the price instantly. I also cut back on "extras" (clothes I don't really need, driving when I don't really have to, etc) so I won't freeze or be unable to get to work. Anyone remember living during the 70s?

Patchogue Knights of Columbus, Council 725, are Celebrating their 105th Year of Service to our Community.
*
Most of us are too busy trying to “make a living,” and consequently do not have the time to pay attention, to what is going on around us. The Patchogue Council of the K of C, has been giving to our Community for over a Century, but have received very little credit for their generosity.
*
During the past century, Council 725 has helped the following Groups, and Charities (Partial List):
*
Assistance to the Blind
Cancer Research
AHRP
Eastern Long Island Farm Workers
High School Scholarships
Feeding the poor
Light House Mission
Ershilin Sisters of Blue Point
Brookhaven Hospital
Saint Charles Hospital
Dogs for the Blind
Holy Angels Regional School
Hope House
Saint Josephs College
Northport Veterans Hospital
Special Olympics
Suffolk County Boy Scouts
Suffolk County Girl Scouts
Sponsor Men’s Seminary

Unwed Mothers
Student of the month
Purchase Dialysis Machine for Brookhaven Hospital
*
In 1961 the Patchogue K of C, purchased the old Patchogue Roller Rink, on Railroad Avenue; and turned it into a "World Class Catering Hall." I'm sure that you remember Dominick Carrabus; he was the manager of the that facility.
*
The hall was beautiful, and everyone wanted to rent the "K of C Hall," for their functions. The hall was considered to be a status symbol! They did make "tons of money" by running that catering hall!
*
Guess what they did with all of the money?
*
They gave it away to charity! This is beyond belief!
*
The residents of Patchogue Village, are and have been very concerned with "Quality Of Life" Issues; the K of C has been doing something about it for over a hundred years!
*
Kudos to the Patchogue Knights of Columbus, Council 725, for their generosity to our community!

About two weeks ago, this Rainbow suddenly appeared over our village. This Rainbow appeared and disappeared in just a ten minute time span. I wasn't the only resident taking Photos.
*
I cannot remember ever seeing a Rainbow that was as beautiful as this one!
