Anyone who was raised in Brooklyn New York is familiar with the non-Olympic sport called Stickball. Similar to Baseball, a broomstick is used for the bat and a soft rubber ball is used instead of a hardball. The street is used as a substitute for a Baseball Diamond. The utility sewer covers were used as Home Plate, and Second base. Two automobiles that happened to be parked in the right place were used as First and Third Base.
*
A group of X Brooklynites have been returning to the location of their youth to share in a good old fashioned game of Stickball!

A Google search of the phrase "hate crime Patchogue," revealed that 17,000 articles were written, mostly by Ethnic Groups, condemning our home town. Most of these articles did not produce constructive suggestions, but instead just attacked our municipality.
*
We will never have peace and harmony until we stop the literary attacks! Instead of setting goals and working toward a solution, many ethnic groups just regurgitate and distribute old news, which has the effect of repeatedly inflicting pain on people from both sides of an issue. Ethnic groups, through their Blogs, repeatedly attack the innocent residents of Patchogue, New York, a municipality in which a hate crime occurred.
*
I stand beside myself in disbelief; educated people who write these Blogs, continually try to control a Bee Hive with a Baseball Bat, instead of Honey! Instead of putting their effort into joining forces with the silent majority, they continue to attack these innocent people, that had nothing to do with with the terrible Hate Crime.
*
The bottom one percent of any civilization houses the criminal element. Unlike the community minded majority, the criminal minority operates above the law; so what is the purpose of chastising the silent majority? We have had one catastrophic murder in our town, which could have happened anywhere! The silent majority also detests this murder.
*
The ethnic groups and the silent majority should actually be on the same side, but assaults from the ethnic groups continue; to the tune of 17,000 literary attacks. These assaults are not directed toward the criminals, but toward the descent residents of Patchogue. The criminals are given a "Free Pass."
*
The media must realize that their attacks against innocent people have the effect of creating more animosity, which will ultimately beget more violence! When will it all end?
*
The bloggers refuse to, and are not willing to even entertain the possibility, that the residents of Patchogue, NY, actually live in harmony. The truth is that the Black, White, and Hispanic communities, of Patchogue, do indeed live in harmony.
*
What does it take to make people that write articles with tainted information, realize that "Camelot" is alive and well in Patchogue! The residents and politicians of Patchogue, comprised of, whites, Blacks, Hispanics, Italian, Irish, and many other ethnic groups, have together transformed our town from a crime ridden wasteland, into a vibrant community. We have also been successful in maintaining our vibrant village.
*
I am saddened to see that the media has and continues to mindlessly attack Patchogue. This is the same as allowing a bulldozer to bury an archaeological site, instead of studying the evidence for the benefit of all!
*
Hate Crime is the epitome of abuse; literary assault through Blogs, is also a form of abuse! So fighting abuse with more abuse is absolutely absurd!

A flash of light and smoke was seen over the water at both Jones Beach, and Smith Point. Reports were coming in to the Police Department, who dispatched watercraft to investigate the incident.
The Coast Guard was also dispatched to investigate the suspicious illumination that was visible over the ocean.
About twenty minutes after the Illumination and smoke filled the sky, the police department was advised that the strange phenomenon was actually caused by a National Weather Service Missile!
"Yeah right!" "Tell me another one!"

A Spanish Pentecostal church in
*
It was later discovered that the two despicable acts of violence, that were originally termed, Hate Crimes, against Spanish people, were perpetrated by a Spanish individual. It was reported that the alleged Spanish perpetrator, was trying to become a member of the church, and was allegedly rebuffed by its membership.
*
After discovering that the alleged “Hate Crimes,” were committed by a person of Spanish descent, the “crimes” were temporarily cancelled. The crimes committed by this individual, were re-defined as “Hate Crimes against a church!” Technically the perpetrator did not have a problem with the Pentecostal religion; he wanted to join them! This entire incident is nothing more than a dispute between a church and it's leadership.
*
Unfortunately, because of "trial by media," the residents of Patchogue are once again guilty of two “Hate Crimes;” all 12,000 of us are now expected to hang our heads in shame, for something we had nothing to do with!
*
We are having trouble with violations against Spanish people, because we are a community with a very large Spanish population. For a community with 45 percent of the housing units being rental units, we have done amazingly well. Somehow we have managed to provide for people that are in the lower middle income bracket, and still have a wonderful quality of life. The media has painted a picture of Patchogue, that is absolutely flawed! The international community has indeed lived together in harmony, until the criminal element decided to commit murder.
*
The media side-stepped an apology to Patchogue, by flaunting a $240. gift that was given to repair the damage caused by the dissident. Pentecostal churches traditionally ask for ”the first ten percent of your salary,” as a Tithe or donation. It is not uncommon for an individual of modest means to give $10,000. to their church. The perpetrator turned violent because he said that the church was asking for too much money; and his donations were not large enough.
*
(Names have been intentionally omitted; we have all had more than our fair share of grief!)

WORDS THE WEAPON OF CHOICE
“Words” are indeed the weapon of choice for most people. Unfortunately, non-participants can be made to appear as co-conspirators, simply by manipulating the text. “Words” can be made to hit their mark, every time, but are often redirected to suit a personal agenda.

I believe that UPI, has been remiss in reporting about the sex trafficking incident of August, 11, 2009. The name of our town “Patchogue,” appeared in capital letters, affixed to the beginning of the first paragraph, in a recent UPI article. By virtue of our name appearing in “large print,” a reasonable person would connect sex crimes, with our home town.
Three individuals were arrested for sex trafficking. Their places of business were in Farmingville, Lake Ronkonkoma, and about four other locations throughout long Island.
One of the Alleged perpetrators, Antonio Revera, lived in Patchogue, another in Medford, and a third alleged perpetrator, lived in Bellport. What if one of the alleged perpetrators lived in Greenport? Would attaching the name of a respectable community, in all capital letters, be a proper thing to do. The"town of Greenport" did not commit a crime. The "town of Patchogue" did not commit a crime; so why is our name in capital letters?
The alleged incidents of sex trafficking did not happen in Patchogue, but in two other long Island communities. The reporter should not “headline” these communities, because they too are victims!
Although the crime is hideous, the news media should use care when writing their articles; one word in the wrong place, can and will punish an entity that had nothing to do with the incident.
I would like to commend Newsday for their coverage of this sex trafficking issue. Yes the names of the towns where the alleged perpetrators lived and operated their illegal enterprise was indeed published; in the third paragraph. The name of our town did not take on the appearance of a headline. Newsday was careful to punish the perpetrators, not the local communities that were also victimized, by virtue of having these alleged criminals operate in their town.
Any salesman knows that if you want to sell a product to a potential customer, the customer must like you as a friend, before business can transpire. This same truism also pertains to selling newspapers. Hopefully the offending text will be removed from the UPI.com article.

Patchogue Unbalanced Media Coverage
I am ecstatic to see the Muslim community stand up and defend themselves against an implied affiliation with an alleged terrorist. We the residents of Patchogue have also been taking a literal beating from the media, because of implied connections with alleged criminals such as Bryant Neal Vinas. An alleged criminal decides to move in with his parents, and an entire community of Ten thousand people are automatically convicted by the media, by virtue of association. In actuality the media's linkage of our village with the alleged criminal, should really be called, guilt by proximity. Like the Muslim Community, we too do not know or have affiliations with the person in question.

An article about crime in any community has the effect of deflating public opinion of that municipality. A blitz of bad press also has the effect of causing the locals to inadvertently “give up “ on their own community, because of one sided reporting.
*
It is a well known fact that if you say something that is untrue, often enough, it will eventually become true, in the eyes of the public. A blitz of negativity has the effect of destroying a community, even though the criminal element represents a very small percentage of that community.
*
So what has the news media accomplished by totally focusing on negativity? First of all commerce is scared away from the very establishments that news media depends on for their advertising revenue.
*
If I were the CEO of a news provider, I would instruct my staff to write positive things about all of the municipalities, and businesses, that I depend on for survival!
*
I have not been pleased with the bad press that has been inflicted on Patchogue village, in the past. The media has been notorious for their practice of flaunting the bad issues, and ignoring the positive issues!
*
Alas, I am starting to see some change in the media. Someone has written an article that actually considers both sides of an issue, and allows the reader to draw his own conclusion.

Please read the article, published in Newsday

We the residents of Patchogue must cast our vote for our community by directing our advertising money to media that publishes favorable articles about our village.

What is Your First Impression of Patchogue Village?
If one could drive directly into Patchogue village, bypassing the west end of town, one's impression might be favorable. The Patchogue Garden Club and Chamber of Commerce, have always worked feverishly to maintain the appearance of our "home town."
Our village government and service clubs, have not been sitting idle, "just watching the flowers grow." Our elected officials, friends, and neighbors, have militantly addressed quality of life issues, resulting in the demolition of the old Lace Mill. Briarcliff College currently resides at that location.
The first impression of the West side of Patchogue Village would and should be very favorable, but we do have an impediment to our A+ rating; the Suffolk County Sixth District Courthouse, on Main Street, Patchogue.
The Sixth District Court landscaping has for years, been neglected, by the County of Suffolk. Last July an email and photos of the Sixth District Court grounds, was sent to the Suffolk County Highway Department, at their request. One year later, new photos were taken, revealing the same neglect, that directly reflects on our village. The Hedges are not trimmed, and the flower Beds are filled with Weeds, instead of Flowers.
The first impression is most important! As soon as a prospective customer or homeowner sees the disarray at the Sixth District Court grounds, they will certainly have a negative opinion of Patchogue Village. The resale value of our homes can be directly equated to the appearance of our village shopping area.
Las Vegas Nevada Landscape
Hopefully the County of Suffolk will hear our plea, and properly maintain the grounds of the Sixth District Court, in Patchogue.
