Update from the Coast Guard Auxiliary:
New boating law 2012, signed into law last week (only Suffolk County) all boaters have to carry a boating cert. that they have taken a certified Safe boating Course. This will go into effect one year from signing. Sept. 2013.

The Suffolk County Police Department Marine Bureau will be offering the NYS SAFE BOATING Course to all members of the public this fall.
Dates: (you must attend both sessions)
Wed 10/24 and Fri 10/26 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM
Tues 11/13 and Thurs 11/15 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM
Tues 12/4 and Thurs 12/6 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM

Location: Suffolk County Police Academy , Brentwood campus of Suffolk County Community College , Room 208
Minimum age 10 years (under 16, a parent is strongly encouraged to attend)
All materials will be provided by NYS
Open to all (please let friends and family know)
Under 18 – no charge
Over 18 – no charge for course, but a $10 fee must be paid to NYS for your permanent card
Additional classes will be scheduled for 2013 if these dates do not work for you.
