Roads are Being Paved in Patchogue Village

About a year ago I published an ad hoc study of the
condition of a few roads in Patchogue Village. Seismic equipment was mounted in
an automobile, and seismic readings were taken so that the road condition could
be compared to the turbulence that one would encounter during a seismic event
(earthquake). I believe that the seismometer determined that when driving on a
particular road, the turbulence felt by the driver would be equivalent to a 7.9
Earthquake. The road condition has substantially degraded since the last study!
This morning I was awakened by a strong turbulence that was emanating
from the street in front of my house. I figured that a truck was
traveling on the bumpy road at a high rate of speed, thus generating a huge seismic
vibration! I couldn’t believe it; it was equivalent to a 9.2 earthquake on the Richter
scale! LOL!
To my surprise it was not a reverse seismic event; it was a
fleet of heavy equipment grinding down the road in preparation for a new road
to be installed! I was jubilant! OMG… After almost half of a century we are
getting a new road! My wife and I quickly put waffles into the toaster and made
large cups of caffeinated coffee… This was a special occasion; a reason to
celebrate! So, the two of us sat on our porch and enjoyed watching the heavy
equipment that was operating on our street!
OK! This is all in fun! Maple Avenue, Northridge Street, Cedar
Grove, and Thorne Street are in the process of being re-paved! LOL! This could
not have happened at a better time; Cedar Grove Street had a pot hole that was
so big that it was re-classified as a sink hole! I could swear that I saw a few
cars in it! LOL! Thank you Mayor Pontieri and the Patchogue Village Trustees
for resolving our problem, and special thanks to Joe Dean. As per the VOP, Joe and his crew always do a great job!!

ReplyDeleteWhat about paving West Patchogue? It's been literally 20 years since they have been paved.
ReplyDeleteAnd what about our dock? It still looks like a bomb zone, and the hurricane was years ago... WHAT'S UP, DOCK?!?!
ReplyDeleteI contacted Lori Devlin, Patchogue Village trustee and received the following answer to the above questions. There is a big list of roads that will be paved over the next year with recent funding that has been secured, there is actually paving being done as we speak in West Patchogue. If there is a specific road they can call Village Hall to inquire as to the schedule.
ReplyDeleteThe dock is waiting on Fema decision as to what level of repair they will reimburse us for, we cant proceed until we have that information. Folks can call Village Hall with questions of this sort and the Village clerk is always able to assist.
Thanks, Lori
