Patchogue Nature Preserve
Ben Vitale

I was relaxing in my living room, and a yellow object caught my eye while looking out of my window. A closer look revealed the yellow object was jumping from branch to branch in the tree that is in my back yard!  I have had visits from the local animals before; could it be Leo the Raccoon, wearing a yellow jacket! LOL!  What is yellow and jumps from branch to branch in a tree? Hummmmm!  Yes! A Squirrel carrying an ear of corn that is almost as big as he is! LOL! I always thought that Squirrels ate acorns, not corn! LOL!

For decades have been having a problem with the local wildlife actually eating through my plastic trash cans, in order to get at the delicious food scraps! My wife Marie is beyond a doubt one of the world’s best Italian cooks; even the local animals know that! LOL! It gives me great pleasure to introduce the newest addition to the “Patchogue Nature Preserve;” Let’s have a round of applause for Olivia the squirrel, who is now swinging from the branches of my holly tree, while eating corn on the cob! LOL!

I have just been advised of a new addition to the Patchogue Nature Preserve; more details to follow in a separate article! LOL!
