Patchogue Theatre to Re-open After Renovations
By Ben Vitale
From Press Release

The Patchogue Theatre holds a special place in my heart, because I performed on stage when I was only 14 years old.

In 1960 I purchased a Silvertone guitar from the Sears catalogue for 29 dollars! I couldn’t afford much… This guitar was made from Masonite, which is a material that is used to build cost effective Kitchen Counter-tops. Yes… “I bought me a guitar” and wanted to become a star! LOL!

In mid 1960s, the Patchogue Theatre sponsored a talent show. A few friends and I who were also just learning to play instruments decided to enter that talent show. The Patchogue Theatre was an actual movie theatre at that time, so the talent show was presented in front of the movie screen on stage.

The theatre was in a state of disrepair in the 60s. After many decades, the Patchogue time machine is about to bring us “Back to the future!” Hundreds of thousands of dollars have been invested into renovating our own Patchogue Theatre.

The theatre has been closed for three months to allow the skilled workman to do their magic.

The show must go on… So the Patchogue theatre for the performing Arts will re-open its doors, on Wednesday, March 30, 2016, for the Re-dedication of our newly renovated facility.

Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts and the Incorporated Village of Patchogue are proud to invite you to the Re-dedication of our newly renovated Patchogue Theatre venue.

Date: Wednesday, March 30, 2016

Time: 6 to 8 p.m. - Patchogue Village Residents & Friends Open House

Place: Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts.
71 East Main St., Patchogue, N.Y. 11772 (Maple Ave. & Main St.)

Unfortunately I did not help Patchogue add a celebrity such as Mick Jagger to its credits, however they can add a beautiful theatre; the Patchogue Theatre for the performing arts.
