One problem, according to the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services, Patchogue does not have a Constabulary. They have not had any of the required training except for the Basic Course for Peace Officers. They don't even receive annual firearms training. The state also has 84+ hours of required additional training for Peace Officers to perform traffic stops. Let's call them what they are, Security Guards. There is nothing wrong with the title "Security Guard". Leave the police details to those who are properly trained.

So "What's in a Title?" Can you remove the value of Gold by calling it Fodder? If we called our Patchogue Village Code Officers "Scum Sucking Maggots," they would still retain the value of Gold!
In actuality the Village Public Safety Officers were functioning as Constables for some period of time. The word Constable was painted across their cars. I guess I call them Constables by force of habit! Their status as constables was rescinded by Suffolk County because of an agreement, that was signed decades ago, forever relinquishing Patchogue's right to have a Police Force. Patchogue Village chose not to fight the issue in court, which would have challenged the validity of the original Law. Patchogue Village did not want a Police Force!
I have been told that, Patchogue Village would not hire a Public Safety Officer, unless they have Law Enforcement Training. This voluntary prerequisite, is a moot point, because the Public Safety Officers do not do Vehicle and Traffic Stops, and do not have the power to make an arrest. In the event of a Crime, the Police Department is called.
The bottom line is that we, the residents of Patchogue Village only care about one thing; our quality of life. The members of this Neighborhood Watch Group have a reputation for Activism in defending our right to have a reasonable Quality of Life. In 1994, a "Poor Quality of Life," resulted in a storm of Political Protest.
I wouldn't expect to see our Village Code Officers, "Go Away any time Soon!" Our Officers, by addressing Code Issues, prevent "Our Village" from becoming a slum. They also patrol our village, at night, when we are asleep. I do feel good about that! History has shown that they are vital to the operation of Patchogue Village!
Contrary to what is going on in the "Political Arena" today, Gold cannot be transformed into Fodder, by vocalization.

Patchogue Constables did have yearly qualifications in firearms with Police certified instructors they where also trianed in the use of the ASP along with OC pepperspray. And recieved Peace Office training by the Suffolk County Sheriffs Dept. The same course as the correctional Offficers, Spca, Suffolk county Fire Marshalls and all other Peace Officer positions. The same course required by DCJS The Suffolk County Probation Dept also provided them with gang training. So check the facts befroe you write.
